"get rid of cable and Direct tv"

investment: $0-$100
Recurring fees: varies by service,
savings "based on your cable bill"

basicly you buy a streaming box (or a smart tv if you want)
4 main streaming boxs are
Roku

Apple TV
Google (Google TV)
amazon fire TV

also if you have a modern video gaming system it may also function as a streaming box with supported services.

the 3 main services are
netflix, hulu, and amazon
netflix costs $7.99 per month
hulu starts at $7.99 per month
amazon video is a little more expensive at $8.25 per month and is paid in 1 year blocks (total of $99) if you frequently shop amazon this may be the best option because it is included with all prime memberships

basically invest in a streming box and if the free channels don't do it for you subscribe to a channel

i view most of my stuff on roku, i mainly use crunchyroll. (i like my anime)
if i need to see a show i visit a relative and watch what i want when they are not using the TV.

gyft, buy gift cards, recieve points.

if there is no bonus for buying a gift card, check out gyft as they have a point program, where the points may be used for a small discount on future gift card purchases.

i use a site called gyft

they have an android and iOS app as well as a web wallet that allows
the apps are easiest and the web wallet works for all devices with an internet connection, but no app
if you dont have a smart phone you can print your gift card for use

the point points currently convert into 1 point is equal to $0.01 cent in savings

you earn points based on your payment method (current rates are current as of 11/12/15)
credit card based payment methods are 2 points per dollar (or $20 for every $100 spent)
and if you buy with bitcoin you will earn 3 points per dollar (or $30 for every $100 spent)

buy your gyft cards using ebates affiliate links for extra bonuses

gyft will also let you "upload a plastic card" and carry it around and use it from your phone

buy gift cards, recieve a bonus.

the holliday season is upon us and stores want your business.

in fact many stores offer specials on gift cards along the lines of "gift $25 in gift cards, receive a $5 bonus card" or "gift $50 recieve $10"

some stores will offer a "mystery ammount" as is the case with my local applebees

however there is no rule you need to give any of the cards away, you can buy both and use both yourself.

although you should be able to use the gift card right away, most stores will only allow you to use the bonus card on your next visit.

sometimes the bonus card will print on the reciept (as is the cae with my local IHOP) however this is a great way to save lots.

be on the lookout when you are entering for any signage. if the store usually offered a bonus and there is no signage ask your server.

also some stores will wait until it gets closer to Christmas for the last minute gifter.

Shop using ebates

If you shop online check out ebates.
what they do: give you Cash back from your online shopping habits from supported stores

is definately works for firefox, and the faq says it will work with chrome and safari.
many stores offer cash back for purchases
3 big stores are
ebay (excludes seller fees)
amazon
groupon

some personal choices are
monoprice
gyft
gamestop
rakuten

this allows what i call a "savings flow"

i start on ebates and visit gyft and buy a gamestop giftcard
i return to ebates move to gamestop (online not in store) and buy my stuff there using the giftcard i bought
i usually buy Playstation Network cards from Gamestop

what this does
ebates has both gamestop and gyft as stores supported
